We at NSTAR are seeking a Senior Level
Electric Supply Analyst in our electric procurement area. In that position
this individual would be responsible for all aspects of procuring energy
for our default service with the key objectives of low cost and
reliability. This would include in depth analysis of the markets and the
forces driving them. This person would need to possess or develop a keen
understanding of the NEPOOL markets rules and procedures. Additionally
this person would be involved in analyzing and producing testimony in
various legal proceedings locally, regionally and nationally. Excellent
interpersonal skills are a must.
Essential Functions
- Understands wholesale markets for power and natural
gas and how these specifically relate to NSTAR.
- Develops high level of understanding of the market
rules, procedures and plans of ISO-NE/NEPOOL and how they impact NSTAR.
- Develops positions that reflect NSTAR's business
objectives through coordination with others within/outside the
departments and with internal/external legal support.
- Develops analysis and supporting documentation to
allow NSTAR to evaluate alternative strategies.
- Drafts filings at FERC that advance NSTAR's objective
of lowering costs while maintaining acceptable levels of reliability.
- Supports filings through testimony and analysis.
- Coordinates joint action with other organizations
having similar objectives to NSTAR.
Qualifications
Technical Knowledge/Skill: Requires technical, quantitative and
analytical skills, along with good oral and written communication skills.
Requires in depth knowledge of power and natural gas industry as well as
regulatory framework.
Education: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics,

bounded by North Carolina and Florida in the east to Kansas and
Texas in the West
- Close coordination with trading, credit,
contracts and other commercial groups to affect the sale of
financial products to all these customer classes
- Play a lead role in developing relationships
with gas and power consuming companies in the South Region in
order to sell simple through highly complex financial derivative
products to meet margin goals, customer growth goals, and open
channels for others in the organization
