Senior Level Electric Supply Analyst

Role and Scope of Position

We at
NSTAR are seeking a Senior Level Electric Supply Analyst in our electric procurement area. In that position this individual would be responsible for all aspects of procuring energy for our default service with the key objectives of low cost and reliability. This would include in depth analysis of the markets and the forces driving them. This person would need to possess or develop a keen understanding of the NEPOOL markets rules and procedures. Additionally this person would be involved in analyzing and producing testimony in various legal proceedings locally, regionally and nationally. Excellent interpersonal skills are a must.

Essential Functions

  • Understands wholesale markets for power and natural gas and how these specifically relate to NSTAR.
  • Develops high level of understanding of the market rules, procedures and plans of ISO-NE/NEPOOL and how they impact NSTAR.
  • Develops positions that reflect NSTAR's business objectives through coordination with others within/outside the departments and with internal/external legal support.
  • Develops analysis and supporting documentation to allow NSTAR to evaluate alternative strategies.
  • Drafts filings at FERC that advance NSTAR's objective of lowering costs while maintaining acceptable levels of reliability.
  • Supports filings through testimony and analysis.
  • Coordinates joint action with other organizations having similar objectives to NSTAR.

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge/Skill: Requires technical, quantitative and analytical skills, along with good oral and written communication skills. Requires in depth knowledge of power and natural gas industry as well as regulatory framework.

Education: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Business, related discipline or equivalent experience.

Portfolio Optimization Analyst (Boston)

Purpose
The responsibilities of the position fall into the following main categories:

Developing Downstream LNG Business Expertise on LNG Portfolio level

  • Work closely with the Sales Group and Commercial Operations to understand the Northeast physical gas market, the SLNGNA sales structures, the portfolio of sales, storage and transportation assets and the risks and opportunities for growth.
  • Work closely with SLNGNA Portfolio Management Group to understand the existing valuation and hedging models for deals originating from the Sales Group and how these deals relate to downstream asset optimization.

This position serves as the main liaison between IT and the corporate functions of AEP.  
A primary role is bringing IT expertise and strategy to bear as an enabling resource to support both current business activities and future strategic direction.  As planning director, the incumbent will actively guide and participate in the formulation of the IT strategic plan as it relates to the business strategy.   

This individual will collaborate with business management in the planning, definition and implementation of information technology solutions to maximize AEP’s return on technology investments. Analyst I to Principal Analyst

This position will be posted in a range from Analyst I to Principal Analyst (Natural Gas)

Will pay relocation, position based in Columbus Ohio. Salary range from 69K to 108K

Responsible for North American natural gas price forecasting to support resource and strategic planning including assessment of: natural gas demand, supply, storage, financial instruments (forwards), basis differentials, transportation rates and integration with other fuels.   

Additionally responsible for near-term natural gas fundamentals and the impact to company assets including storage inventories, extreme weather and force majeure events. Must also maintain a global perspective of LNG demand, supply, transportation and infrastructure.   

Responsible for monitoring federal and state natural gas-related policy issues in order to contribute to the development of AEP positions.  Other ad hoc analysis to address immediate problems or needs.

Work Hours/ Travel Requirements
Traditional work hours with additional hours as needed.   Infrequent overnight travel.

Bachelor’s degree (technical emphasis preferred).  Minimum of five years direct natural gas production, marketing, transportation, regulatory or market analysis experience.

CONSTRUCTION MANAGER RAS LAFFANC (Qatar)


Area of Responsibility:
Responsible for monitoring, coordinating, reporting of the construction activities at site and more generally the EPC Contractor work in the best interest of the Company.

  • Timely report variances to the CEO and proposes jointly with the Owner’s Engineer mitigation or alternative solutions.
  • Makes sure that agreed corrective actions to mitigate the effects of variances are planned and carried out.
  • Assist the Company in claims management to and from the EPC Contractor. Will thoroughly understand and apply the commercial terms of the EPC Contract, as well as of other project agreements where relevant.
  • Monitor and keep updated when needed the overall schedule of the plant construction integrating the EPC schedule with the schedule of permits, authorizations and other contractual obligations.
  • Direct and control the work at site by contractors working directly for the Company, if any.
  • Make sure that those activities are coordinated with the overall activities in the plant.
  • Report to CEO on work health and safety and environmental conditions at site.
  • Work with the Owner’s Engineer support staff except otherwise agreed with the CEO.
